Hypoallergenic Diets & Other Allergy Treatments: 2 Part Preview!

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

I've increasingly been seeing a number a pet owners ask about allergy treatments & remedies for their dogs and cats. More and more veterinarians are turning to hypoallergenic/ hydrolyzed diets and various prescription medications without a second thought.

I see many posts in pet groups on social media asking about this issue, and I wanted to compile a load of information and research so dog and cat owners, like you, are aware of what these diets really are, and what the dangers these medications present to their pet's overall health.

In this 2 part series, I'll discuss a LOT that your veterinarian will likely never tell you... because they probably don't even know it themselves!!

Part 1

What diets are typically used for food allergies:

  • Hypoallergenic

  • Novel protein

  • Limited ingredient

  • Hydrolyzed

You'll learn about the truthful science behind how these diets are made, how they work, and what dangers lie within some of these 'miracle foods.' All of which is backed by science! Oh, yes. I have MANY studies linked within, per usual! You won't believe what I found!

When a dog or cat is diagnosed with food allergies, this is what's prescribed to them.

Hydrolyzed protein is MSG.

Are you aware of the adverse effects of ingesting massive amounts of MSG on a daily basis?! Truth is, most vets don't even know this!

Spoiler alert: it doesn't do anything to create good health or solve allergies!!

Are you aware that ALL Rx pet feed hypoallergenic diets still contain known allergens like chicken, corn, soy and rice?!

Part 2

I'll walk you through some of the most common allergy medications used in veterinary practice:

  • Steroids

  • APOQUEL

  • Cytopoint

  • Atopica

Included with each section, you will learn:

▪ What the drug/ biological product is

▪ How it works in the body

▪ Risks & side effects

▪ Safety studies

▪ Alternatives to consider

🕵 A little preview

6/239 dogs in the study were euthanized in the study due to them developing cancer.

**That portion of the insert is also included in this slide.

Imagine those numbers throughout the nation.

That's about 1 in every 40 dogs on APOQUEL dying of cancer.

Those are just the numbers from the ones euthanized. There were multiple other dogs in the study that developed varying types of cancer.

Why happened to "Do no harm." .....????

......would you risk it?

I know I wouldn't.

We are often told these drugs are safe but, are they really?

As I've said before, I want YOU to make informed decisions when it comes to your pet's care.

Because let's face it, you aren't going to get all this information in 10 minutes talking to your veterinarian.. it's absolutely impossible.

Part 2 also discusses alternative allergy remedies such as herbs, and the importance of nutrition and choosing a tailored diet that is not only nutritious but biologically appropriate as well.

I've known countless pet owners who were able to successfully get their pets off of all medications by switching to more appropriate doets and even using a few natural remedies like herbs to balance the body.

The last part of this series also covers allergy testing methods.

This series got a bit lengthy, so I decided to split it up... but it's packed with research so YOU can make those ever so important decisions about your pet's health!

***Of course, it's all about the quality of life for the animal. If you feel that you must use conventional methods to tame an abundance of unpleasant symptoms that your pet is dealing with, by all means... Do so!

But I HIGHLY encourage you to make other changes on top of that: such as addressing the diet, adding supportive supplements, repairing the gut, and taking a look at environmental factors that could be causing problems.

Too often pet owners and veterinarians make the mistake of assuming Rx food and medications will fix a deep rooted issue.

Simply giving a 'prescription' diet and medications is NOT going to resolve the underlying problem, but rather make the symptoms go away... Perhaps only temporarily.

This is where the beauty of integrative care comes in. Pairing conventional and holistic methods together to achieve optimal results.

This exclusive series discusses all of that and MORE.

So, let's dive in! You ready?!
