Is your kitty showing signs of excess heat in the body? Want to entice their senses and give them a fun homemade treat? Are they a bit anxious? Cool 'N Calm Catnip Sardine Sickles will have your kitty nice and relaxed, or shall I say chill?
Total time investment:
About 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Few sprigs of dried or fresh catnip.
Catnip is calming when ingested, and is generally only a stimulant when used aromatically. Catnip is wonderful for promoting good digestion and also relieving gas.
Plain Sardines (I prefer Wild Planet- NO SALT ADDED)
Sardines are high in protein, vitamin D, iron and omega 3's! I prefer to add small whole fish to my pets meal rather than fish oil.
Fresh, filtered Water
Always give your pets filtered water!
Other supplies:
Small silicone tray
Plate
Knife
Grab your small silicone tray (I used a small fish shaped one)!
Sprinkle a bit of herbs into each section.
Cut the sardines into small chunks and lay them on top of the herbs.
Fill each one with the leftover juice from the can, and a little filtered water.
Then, freeze until solid!
Pop these out of the tray, and onto a plate.
Allow your kitty to sniff, lick and paw at this fishy treat!
Your kitty should enjoy the cool sensation of these calming sardine sickles!
Feel free to give them as an occasional treat!
They store well frozen in Ziplocs!
