All natural? Labeling claim mishaps: Don't be fooled!

Updated: Mar 29, 2022

I always get questions about food,

And it usually goes something like this:

"What do you think of ______ food? It's supposed to be pretty good! It's all natural and everything."

I'm sorry, but I cringe every time I hear this.

So, let me set the record straight.

Many companies use the term 'All Natural' to trick you into buying.

Sad truth, I know.

Want to know what's all natural?

Wood, grass, corn, bugs... Heck, even poop is natural.

Yep, I said it.

Just because something is natural, does not mean it is good to eat, or biologically appropriate.

Usually, this term in pet food just means there are no synthetic preservatives, or colors.

But, even with lack of anything artificial a pet food label can still read as follows:

It even has REAL MEAT as the first ingredient. Don't let that fool you either!

Because next comes:

  • Barley

  • Corn

  • Sorghum

  • By-products

This is NOT an appropriate food.

Moral of the story: Read the ingredients, not just the front label.

This is why I stress the importance of doing your research.
